Biodynamic agriculture

Biodynamic agriculture appeared in 1924, with the Austrian philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner. Known as the inventor of anthroposophy and the founder of this type of agriculture, he was in charge of giving a solution to farmers in the days when they complained about the deterioration of their crops due to the constant use of fertilizer of chemical composition.
The most significant difference with biodynamic agriculture is that it works with the vital energies of nature and not just with material needs. The principles of biodynamic agriculture are based on the philosophy of Steiner and are based on the use of plant and animal substances and under esoteric precepts, which take into account the planetary alignment and the phases of the moon to carry out any agricultural work. It should be noted that these are beliefs unproven by the scientific community.
Despite its many detractors, biodynamic agriculture is one of the most studied economic activities because of the interest aroused by its efficiency. The ecological advantages generated by this system are obvious, which uses only natural and healthy agricultural techniques, avoiding the use of any chemical substance and thus providing a situation of natural balance. For all this, biodynamic agriculture has a more than remarkable advantage over traditional agriculture.
Defeder Alcolea’s products fully comply with the principles of biodynamic agriculture in terms of integrating cultivation with breeding, recycling of nutrients and the absence of chemicals.
For this reason, Defeder plans to certify some of its products with Demeter, the brand of products from biodynamic agriculture. The requirements of the Demeter Regulation are higher than those required for organic products, so this certification would give Defeder a differentiation from other manufacturers of organic products.
