Carmen Urbano visits Defeder

A few weeks ago we had a pleasant visit, at our Monzón facilities, from the general director of Agrifood Promotion and Innovation, Carmen Urbano.
Joaquín Saila, founding partner of Defeder together with his brother Raúl, and Juan Monter, Director of Operations, were wonderful hosts explaining the operation of the company’s facilities and projections.
Due to the large investments that we are making in 2022, the 40% annual growth that the company is experiencing, and its international projection, Carmen Urbano wanted to see first-hand everything we are doing.
2021 has been a year in which Defeder has consolidated its leadership in the organic fertilizer segment in Spain and France, the main markets for the company, which is highly internationalized and we want to bring the Aragón brand to markets such as South America.
The result of this drive towards foreign trade have been the two awards we have received over the last year: the Company Award for Internationalization from Cámara de Comercio de Huesca and the company award for internationalization at the Huesca SME of the Year awards of Banco Santander.
In addition, Carmen Urbano was able to learn in detail about the latest R+D+i projects based on the line of work of animal feed and petfood.
One of the novelties that most interested Carmen Urbano was the new factory, inaugurated in 2019, it has a constructed area of 14,500 square meters and its investment has been more than 4 million euros. These facilities have been built under an industry 4.0 orientation, in search of competitive improvement, maintaining its commitment to sustainability within the framework of the circular economy.
These investments will allow us to improve the productivity, quality and differentiation of our products, consolidating and promoting job creation, emphasizing the values of sustainability, care for the environment and social commitment.
“Our food is also the result of how we treat our lands” commented Carmen Urbano in her farewell after knowing first-hand the entire general project and Defeder’s values.
