NPK, the basis of growth
13 de January de 2021
Today we will take a brief look at plant nutrition. Plants, like all living things, need adequate nutrition to grow and complete their life cycle. For this, they require both macronutrients and micronutrients, precisely balanced according to the phenological state in which they are found.
DEFEDER’s range of organic NPK (nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium) fertilizers allows the soil to be adapted by providing the three macronutrients essential for the proper development of crops, adapting to their needs at any time.
Nitrogen
Nitrogen, although abundantly present in the atmosphere, is unfortunately not found in the forms generally assimilated by plants. This atmospheric nitrogen needs to be fixed and transformed in the soil to be assimilated by our plants, but even taking into account the nitrogen cycle, its availability in the soil is not sufficient for the high needs of this element our cultures need. Nitrogen is a limiting factor in crop yields because it is an essential component of vegetable proteins and chlorophyll. For all this, and due to its high mobility in the soil, it is essential to apply nitrogen-rich fertilizers, such as NPK organic fertilizers, which provide different forms of nitrogen, promoting longer and more stable availability in the ground.
Phosphorus
On the other hand, we have phosphorus, which promotes root formation and is essential during flowering and fruit formation. It is at this moment that its contribution becomes almost essential, since it is a very small mobile element and its assimilable form is found in very small proportion in our soils. The application of organic NPK fertilizers, which are rich in phosphorus, reduces the possibility of deficiencies that can lead to growth deficiencies, as well as delays in flowering.
Potassium
The third of these essential, but no less important nutrients is potassium, which, like phosphorus, is present in the soil and its available form is also limited. Potassium is involved in many metabolic processes, and in turn, promotes the recovery of plants under a certain type of stress and helps their immune system. Deficiencies in this main nutrient can lead to stunted growth, defoliation, uneven fruit ripening and weakening the root system. Crops have a high demand for this element, especially fruit crops, and although the soil reserves can sometimes be sufficient, in others it is necessary to supply it by means of fertilizers, such as fertilizers. organic NPK.
For example, Nitro Plus ecological fertilizer offers a high level of nitrogen, between 11% and 12%, and is our flagship product for almost all types of crops and soils. On the other hand, we have the Bio Complet product, which has the perfect balance between nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Both organic fertilizers are suitable for feeding any type of crop, without exception.
Nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium are the three fundamental pillars for correct crop nutrition, which is why at DEFEDER we have a range of NPK organic fertilizers adapted to the different needs that may arise during the cultivation cycle. All this while respecting the environment, always thinking of the sustainable economy and committed to the circular economy.
