Talk on the circular economy and the SDGs at the CPEPA

The circular economy strategy followed by the Defeder company, linked to a large number of Sustainable Development Goals that it meets and applies, is not going unnoticed within society, specifically, the Montison town where one of its factories is located. That is why, on December 14, our head of marketing and communication, Javier Claver, gave an interesting talk at the Public Center for Adult Education.

The Monzón Public Center for Adult Education offers a wide range of courses. The students of all the courses have a subject dedicated to sustainability, the environment, the 2030 Agenda… and that is why the Defeder company, a pioneer in the application of the circular economy strategy, has delved into the subject.

Javier made all his knowledge about the circular economy and SDGs available to the students, trying to make students aware of the importance of meeting these objectives.

The circular economy is defined as an economic and social system that aims at the production of goods and services while reducing the consumption and waste of raw materials, water, and energy sources.

All manufacturing processes of goods or services involve an environmental cost. To minimize it, the circular economy promotes the optimization of materials and waste, extending their useful life. In this way, the current linear throwaway system is avoided and a commitment is made to one that is respectful of the environment and based on prevention, reuse, repair and recycling.

In short, the circular economy allows us to extend the useful life of products and give them a second life.

On the other hand, on September 25, 2015, world leaders adopted a set of global goals to eradicate poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved in the next 15 years.

Defeder is proud to say that it meets 8 of the 17 objectives proposed by the United Nations, which are listed below:

3- Health and well-being.
6- Clean water and sanitation.
8- Decent work and economic growth.
9- Industry, innovation and infrastructure.
11- Sustainable cities and communities.
12- Production and consumption.
13- Action for the climate.
15- Life of terrestrial ecosystems.

Since the implementation of the SDGs, Defeder has always tried to fulfill them and promote them among society. We encourage all entities to put into practice these rules that can only bring us benefits and never any inconvenience.
